Regional Advocacy

A vital part of NMCOG’s mission is advocating for the region’s interests at the state and federal level. Under its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, “Lead Regional Collaboration, Advocacy, and Engagement” is a core priority. Examples of our regional advocacy work include:

  • NMCOG submits testimony on legislative, budget, or infrastructure proposals (e.g. testimony in support of regional transit funding, infrastructure grants, environmental resilience funding).
  • Pursuing and securing state and federal allocations for regional transportation and planning projects.
  • Providing comments on key pieces of regulatory, legislative, or administrative proposals.
