Traffic Counting

Screen grab of traffic counting dashboard showing data for Route 113 in DunstableTraffic count data provides information on the movement of people and goods along a roadway. The information obtained from these counts enables planners and engineers to study existing road and highway conditions related to the problem. The ability to project volumes into the future provides the opportunity to identify potential problems before they develop and seeks solutions to existing conditions. Traffic counts also are essential in helping to identify congestion issues. This data is also useful to business and real estate development interests and to marketing firms to assess market potential.

NMCOG has transitioned to a dashboard-based platform for traffic volume data from 2023 to the present. The new platform includes separate tabs for each traffic counting season, with links to data downloads by community. Current year traffic counts will be updated in real time as data is collected.

Prior year's traffic volume data may be requested by contacting NMCOG at 978-454-8021.
